TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Democrat chief-cum-graft suspect Anas Urbaningrum has questioned the Corruption Eradication Commission’s not summoning President Yudhoyono and his youngest son, Edhie “Ibas” Baskoro Yudhoyono, in relation to the Hambalang graft case.
The cash from the Hambalang graft case was allegedly transferred to the Democrat Congress in Bandung in 2010. Anas said he was certain that Yudhoyono as the chief of the party’s supervisory council and Ibas as a member of the congress’ steering committee were the two persons most informed about everything pertaining to the congress.
“They are important witnesses. They are involved in the grant of Toyota Harrier and other cases. But I have no idea if the KPK would investigate them,” Anas said at the KPK headquarters on Thursday night, April 24, 2014 after being probed by KPK investigators on the Hambalang case.
“At the end of the questioning I asked them why Yudhoyono and Ibas have not been quizzed yet.” Anas said, adding that the investigators was non-committal at the time.
Both Yudhoyono and Ibas have repeatedly dismissed allegations that they were involved in the Hambalang case and knew about the channeling of illicit cash to the Democrat congress.
