TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of Witness and Victims Protection Agency (LPSK) Abdul Haris Semendawai said that his agency will guarantee victims and their families safety related to the Jakarta International School's (JIS) sexual harassment case.
"We are looking at potential of threats against their safety," Abdul told Tempo.
According to Abdul, any forms of threats, including via text messages, would affect psychological state of the families and traumatize them. Therefore, the LPSK will advocate the victims and the families by ensuring their safety and recovery.
"We will work with other competent people, such as psychologists, psychiatrists and medical team," Abdul said.
Abdul added that the advocacy would not disrupt the investigation process.
"If the police needs the families to make statements, we will ask them to do that in a neutral and comfortable place. It doesn't have to be in a police station," he said.
But he has yet confirmed whether the families will be relocated to LPSK's safe house, saying that he will be looking at their needs and protecting them from threats.
