TEMPO.CO, Wilshire - A breakfast menu list relic of the Titanic ship that sunk in April 1912 is officially for sale. The rare relic is a menu list of the second class in the ship.
Daily Mail reported on Monday, April 21, 2014 the menu list would be sold for 80,000 pound sterling or equal to Rp1.5 billion. The sale will be done by Henry Aldridge and Son auction house in Wiltshire, England, on April 26.
The menu list, which is twice the size of a post card, is considered very rare. The first class passengers of the ill-fated ship were to be rescued first in the incident. When onboard a lifeboat rescue, they still possessed the menu list in their bags or jackets.
Around 93 percent of the second class passengers were unable to be saved from the ship that sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean. One of the survivors is Jacob Gibbons, a second-class waiter, who still possesses the menu list.
The breakfast menu list consists of a variety of menus for the ship passengers, including Fresh Fish, Yarmouth Bloaters, Grilled Ox Kidneys & Bacon, American Dry Harsh Au Gratin, Grilled Sausage Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Ham & Fried Eggs and a simple menu of Fried Potatoes.
