TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google has come up with "Glass Explorer" program before launching the Glass final product. On April 15, United States citizens will be able to purchase the high-tech eyewear.
This is the first time that Google lets just anyone purchase a Glass prototype. Last October, Google only allowed existing Explorers to invite up to three other people in New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco to the program.
The protototype will be available for sale at 09:00 Eastern time, equipped with a choice of lens frame. Sold at US$1,500, the appointed stores are to apply 'first-come first-served' method.
New features available for the Explorer version include a choice of frames, prescription lens support, and attachable earbuds. Google chairman Eric Schmidt has said "a consumer version of Glass will launch this year, but the company hasn’t given a release date, price or a sense of how the final version will differ from the prototype."
