TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Taxation Director General Fuad Rahmany signed an agreement on Monday aimed at boosting the central and regional tax revenues and regional retributions.

The signing was witnessed by Finance Minister Chatib Basri, Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, and Jakarta Provincial Secretary Wiriyatmoko.

Jokowi explained the coordination sought to improve tax payers’ compliance, adding that “major apartments have not contributed to the city’s tax revenues.”

Chatib Basri said that Jakarta was one of the regions with the highest tax revenue potential. “Land and car sales transactions mostly take place in Jakarta,” he said.

Chatib added that the Taxation Directorate General and the Jakarta administration would synchronize information on tax payers in the capital.
