TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The deputy general-secretary of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Ahmad Basarah, said the decision of nominating their presidential candidate is Megawati’s full authority as a chairwoman. He said Megawati had just revealed the decision to Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, Thursday evening.

"The announcement Madam Mega has made to elect Jokowi as a presidential candidate took place at the plenary meeting," said Ahmad at the PDI-P executive board office, Jakarta yesterday. During a visit to the cemetery of her father, Soekarno, in Blitar, on Wednesday, she was still solidifying the decision, said Ahmad.

After Jokowi was informed by Mega, he immediately announced his readiness at Marunda Apartment, North Jakarta. "Jokowi is ready to carry out the responsibilities assigned by Megawati," he said.
