TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander, General Moeldoko, intends to award President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono with the title Great General. Moeldoko expressed his intention in his opening speech of the Leadership Meeting of TNI and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to discuss the 2014 General Election security.

“I think it would be appropriate for the president,”said Moeldoko at the end of his speech on Thursday, January 9, 2014.

To this date, TNI has awarded the five stars to three persons: former President Soeharto, Abdul Harris Nasution, and Sudirman. These titles were awarded in October 1997.

According to Moeldoko, there is the consideration that SBY is worthy of receiving the title, for “his great spirit to build reliable TNI.”
