TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - CEO of state-owned electricity company PLN, Nur Pamudji, has submitted a letter of resignation for he was disappointed by the investigation that was carried out by the Supreme Court regarding the turbine procurement project at Belawan Gas-Fueled Power Station, Medan, North Sumatra, between the period of 2007 and 2009.
The Court has determined nine officials of PT PLN South Sumatra as suspects. Pamudji had once been examined as a witness. The Court suspected the two projects had caused the state to lose approximately Rp48.9 billion.
According to PLN’s public relations manager Bambang Dwiyanto, Pamudji hoped his resignation could protect PLN’s employees who have been working professionally from the threat of being convicted. "PLN has to be presided over by people who can protect their employees," he said.
He had conveyed his intention to resign to Dahlan Iskan the Minister for State-Owned Enterprises, through a short text message on November 12. No details behind the resignation of the position he has only been holding for two years.
As PLN Main Director, Nur Pamudji has received the 2013 Bung Hatta Anti-Corruption Award in October. He was considered to have strong commitment in eradicating corruption, collusion and nepotism in the state-owned organization.
