TEMPO.CO, Madiun - A resident of Ngurawan village in Madiun district, East Java, has discovered historical artifacts in his backyard. These artifacts were similar to a showerhead, mini stone mortar, decorations of a temple, and stone block.
"Based on the design and type of stone, these artifacts are suspected to be from Kadipaten Ngurawan during the Majapahit Kingdom era around the 12th until 13th century," said Antok Kartiko, a member of the Culture Observation Group, last Sunday.
Head of cultural affairs at the Madiun Education Department, Ismono, said he has reported these historical findings to the Mojokerto Heritage Conservation Agency.
However, Ismono admitted that no actual research has been conducted as yet. The Madiun district administration has not formed a team of researchers, archeologists, historians, culture experts or sociologistsyet.
"The plan is to form one next year due to budget constraints," he said.
