More Experiments are being done to Animals, Activists Claim

TEMPO.CO, London – A study conducted in the United Kingdom revealed that the number of experiments on animals have increased by 8 percent reaching four million experiments recorded last year.
Scientists and medical research charities emphasized that animals may only be used as an experimental subject when no other alternatives are available. However, animal rights groups described the increasing figures as 'shocking'.
Wendy Jarrett, a member of the Understanding Animal Research Foundation, stated that "a huge amount of scientific, medical and veterinary research is done without the use of animals, but in some cases we still need to use animals if we want to find the medical and veterinary treatments of tomorrow."
