TEMPO.CO, Baghdad - Deadly attacks in Iraq that happened on Thursday, including a car bomb explosion, killed at least eight people. This week alone, at least 160 people have died from violent attacks that stem from the sectarian conflict.
Responding to the horrific action, the UN has called on all Iraqi leaders to immediately hold dialogues to resolve widening political impasse.
On Thursday morning local time, a car bomb exploded in northeastern Baghdad, killing four people and injured dozens more.
"Other vehicles containing explosives exploded in the center of the capital, leaving two people dead and 10 others wounded," a security officer said.
The officer continued that two border policemen were shot dead after being ambushed by gunmen in the Iraqi-Jordanian highway. On Wednesday, May 29, a bomb exploded at a wedding ceremony in southern Baghdad, killing 28.
According to AFP, the latest attack in May 2013 had killed up to 580 people. "Overall, more than 1,000 people have been killed in the attacks which lasted for two months."
