TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Agriculture Minister Suswono said that in order to meet the demands for meat approaching Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran, the government will accelerate imports. However, the the government has yet to anticipate meat supply for after the period of the Muslim celebration ends.
"We'll evaluate meat import quota of the following month later. It's only for one month," said Suswono at the parliamentary complex in Senatan on Wednesday, May 29.
Suswono added that out of the 19 tons of frozen meat import quota, only 11 tons have arrived. The minister said that sellers may have been taking advantage of this stuation.
"We'll evaluate later after Lebaran if everything is on target or not," Suswono added.
