TEMPO.CO, Rangon - Myanmar's government urged people to calm down after a Muslim orphanage, a mosque and shops were burned during a religious clash at the northeastern Shan state.
Following the incident, authorities have implemented a curfew in Lashio, a region located 700 km northeast of Yangon. Previously, 200 local residents surrounded the city police headquarter demanding the police to hand over a Muslim detainee.
Nay Win (48), a Muslim, was arrested after allegedly burning Aye Aye Win (24), a Shan Buddhist, after previously exchanging arguments and involved in a fist fight with the victim at a petrol station.
