TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States President, Barack Obama, said that he and the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, agreed to increase the pressure against Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, with the purpose to tackle his regime.
Both leaders met in Washington after a consecutive speech for the press. "we will continue our effort to increase the pressure against Assad’s regime, provide humanity aid to strengthen the opposition, and prepare Syria as a democratic nation without Bashar al-Assad," said Obama.
Patty Culhane from Al Jazeera in Washington DC reported that some local media released the possibility that US would arm the resistance. "That will be a difficult battle for Obama’s government if deciding to arm the resistance," said Culhane.
