Commander Claimed Responsible for Cebongan Attack

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Commander of the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) Maj. Gen. Agus Sutomo stated that he bears responsibility over the attack on Cebongan Prison in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on 23 March 2013. The attack, which claimed four lives, was carried out by eleven Kopassus members from Second Group Kopassus from Kandang Menjangan in Sukoharjo, Central Java.

 “I should be the first person to be held accountable,” said Agus during Kopassus 61st Anniversary celebration in Cijantung HQ on Tuesday (16/4).

Agus claimed that he has no information on the kind of consequence he must face. Nonetheless, Agus confirmed that he is ready to accept punishment or sanctions. He confirmed that he will wait until the legal proceedings undergone by his subordinates are finished.
