TEMPO Interactive, Purwokerto:Dried Cassava farmers in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, are overwhelmed to fulfill the export demand from South East Asia and Italy. Out of the 150,000 ton demand worth around Rp600 billion, farmers could only provide one tenth or around Rp20 billion. Up until now we exported dried cassava for animal fodder, said Nurazman Sidik, Director of PT Syasya Food and Agricultural Product in Purwokerto yesterday. According to Nurazman, the foreign market is not only interested in dried cassava, but they will buy cassava leaves for fodder. The price of cassava leaves in international markets amounts to Rp3,500/kg.Amrulloh Khaeroni, Head of the Mugi Rahayu Farmers Group, Selakambang Village, Purbalingga Regency, said that every village produces 5,250 ton/year with average land of 150 hectares per village. But the cassava selling price among farmers is still low, so they consider it a derivative product. ARIS ANDRIANTO
