TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto believes that Indonesia will not be a nation that seeks help from other parties if the values of Pancasila are implemented in all aspects of life. For Prabowo, this can be achieved if the people earnestly carry out national and statehood aspects in politics, law, social, cultural, and economic fields by adhering to Pancasila.
"I am convinced that Indonesia will not only become a developed and prosperous nation, Indonesia will be a nation respected by other nations because of its prosperous people," said Prabowo when he was the inspector at the commemoration of Pancasila Birth Day at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complex, Central Jakarta, Monday, June 1, 2026.
He is optimistic that Indonesia can become a strong nation because of unity, a prosperous nation because of justice, and a great nation because of its humanity. "A nation that can be a force for world peace, a nation that does not seek assistance, a nation that can help other nations," he added.
On the same occasion, Prabowo expressed his desire for the transformation of the nation's economy towards a system that is fully based on the values of Pancasila. For Prabowo, this Pancasila economy is based on at least four principles: religious, humanitarian, national unity, and social justice.
The Head of State emphasized that natural resources are not commodities that can be freely traded. "Natural wealth is a trust from Almighty God that must be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people," said Prabowo.
The Chairman of the Gerindra Party stated that economic development should not solely be oriented towards statistical figures. According to him, the success of national development should be measured by the improvement of the people's quality of life, especially the most vulnerable groups.
Furthermore, Prabowo explained that an economy based on Pancasila means that the economy must be in favor of national interests and the people. The Indonesian economy, he stated, should not only benefit a few individuals.
Moreover, this former Minister of Defense also emphasized that the Pancasila economy means an egalitarian and people-oriented economic system. He referred to Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, stating that Indonesia's economy is organized as a joint effort based on familial principles.
Then, Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia's economy should be based on social justice. He said that an economy based on social justice is the essence of the nation's entire struggle. "Economic growth must be accompanied by the equal distribution of progress and must be felt by the entire Indonesian population," said Prabowo.
