Prabowo's Cabinet to Be Dominated by Professionals, Says Gerindra

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Daily Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has revealed that the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka cabinet will likely feature a higher proportion of professional ministers from outside political parties compared to party cadres. This information was disclosed by Dasco during an interview at the Nusantara II Building in the Senayan Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

“The presence of these professionals seems to be more prominent than those from political parties,” Dasco remarked.

He explained that the inclusion of professionals is crucial to fulfilling the campaign promises made by Prabowo and Gibran. “To effectively deliver on our campaign promises, the team is focused on selecting the right individuals and placing them in appropriate positions,” he stressed.

Previously, Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani confirmed that a list of names from various political parties within the Indonesia Advanced Coalition (KIM) to fill the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet would be released following the inauguration of the president and vice president-elect in October.

“It's clear that Prabowo envisions a zaken government for his cabinet,” Muzani said at the Parliament Building on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Dasco also confirmed that the number of ministers in the upcoming cabinet would indeed increase. “Yes, there will be a hike,” he told Tempo on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

However, he could not yet confirm how many ministries would be in the new government cabinet.

Earlier, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas claimed that the upcoming Prabowo-Gibran cabinet would feature an increased number of ministers. Although he did not disclose the exact number, the General Chair of the National Mandate Party (PAN) confirmed the possibility of the cabinet reaching 44 ministers. “Yes, there will be an increase. Perhaps around that number (44 ministers),” he said at the Parliament building in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, as reported by Antara.
