TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The spokesperson for the Committee on Pope Francis' Arrival, Thomas Ulun Ismoyo, emphasized that tickets to attend the High Mass at the GBK Main Stadium, Jakarta are free of charge. Father Ulun asserted the information to ensure Catholics planning to attend the Pope Francis-led mass are not deceived by frauds.
"The tickets are all free, no fees are charged whatsoever," said Ulun at the Karya Pastoral Building, Central Jakarta Cathedral Complex, Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
He also reminded all Catholics to be wary of the High Mass ticket sale in the form of bracelets. "Be vigilant of anyone selling (the bracelets), it might be fake," he said.
According to Ulun, the tickets for the High Mass are distributed by the Bishops' Conference of Indonesia (KWI). The tickets have been distributed to the dioceses and invited organizations.
The Pope Francis-led mass will be held simultaneously in two places, namely the Main Stadium and the Madya Stadium of GBK. The Thursday afternoon mass will be attended by nearly 100,000 Catholics in Indonesia.
"The main stadium will host 60,000 people while the Madya Stadium will host 26,000 attendees, most of whom are education communities, school children, students, teachers, and accompanying lecturers," he said.
Ulun said Pope Francis would come to the mass in a Maung car, manufactured by PT Pindad. The open car will later go around the Madya Stadium for Pope Francis to bless the teaching community.
"After that, Pope Francis will go to the main stadium, go around and greet the congregation present and start the Mass at five in the afternoon," he said.
