TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain and strong winds hit parts of Bogor City and Regency on Monday afternoon, September 2. Weather analysis by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) showed that the rain in Bogor was classified as very heavy to extreme, with winds blowing at a speed of 64.63 kilometers per hour from the southeast.

Reports from the BMKG showed that the heavy rain, coupled with strong winds, uprooted trees in several places, causing traffic jams. In Bogor City, there were fallen trees on major roads such as Jalan Layung Sari, Jalan Riau near Baranangsiang Terminal, Jalan Pajajaran, Jalan Binamarga, Jalan Ahmad Yani.

The strong winds also damaged several residential buildings and the front glass of Botani Square Mall. One car was reportedly damaged by a tree.

In Bogor regency, heavy rains and strong winds hit Cimayang village, Pamijahan district, Cilebut Barat village, Pasir Jambu village, Sukaraja district, Karadenan village, Cibinong district, and Cibatok village, Cibungbulang district.

The incident claimed two lives and left four people injured, according to BPBD, the Disaster Volunteer Info Post, and social media reports.

BMKG appealed to residents to be vigilant of extreme weather in the form of moderate to heavy rain with flashes of lightning and strong winds in the afternoon, especially when there is a strong temperature rise from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.

"Typically marked by dark and towering clouds shaped like cauliflower," said Rakhmat in a written statement, Tuesday, September 3.

For the weather forecast for September 3-4, BMKG said that some areas of Bogor Regency have the potential for light to moderate rain. On September 5, there is a potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on a local scale with a relatively short duration from afternoon to evening in parts of Bogor Regency and City.
