KAI Hosts ASEAN Railway Conference in Bandung

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Yogyakarta Regional Operation of the Indonesian railway company, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI), will showcase various train concepts to participants of the 44th ASEAN Railway CEOs' Conference (ARCEOs'). The conference, slated for September 2-5, 2024, will gather train operators from across Southeast Asia.
The Public Relations Manager of the Yogyakarta Regional Operation 6 of KAI, Krisbiyantoro, said his unit will showcase various units of trains operating in Yogyakarta and Central Java. "Such as Panoramic Trains, Compartment Trains, and New Generation Trains," he said in a written statement, on Monday, September 2, 2024.
In addition to KAI, the 44th ARCEOs' is attended by representatives from seven ASEAN train operators, namely Keretapi Tanah Melayu (Malaysia), Vietnam Railways (Vietnam), Ministry of Public Works and Transport (Cambodia), Lao National Railways (Laos), Philippine National Railways (Philippines), Myanma Railways (Myanmar), and State Railway of Thailand (Thailand).
"There are 103 participants from eight countries," said Krisbiyantoro.
The participants of the ARCEOs' Conference will share best practices in operations, maintenance, digital transformation, and commercial aspects of railways. With the theme 'Driving Sustainability with Digital Innovation', the 44th ARCEOs’ Conference also includes discussions on sustainable and environmentally friendly train businesses. The digitalization aspect is also being developed to meet customer needs.
The delegates from various ASEAN countries are scheduled to try out the first Southeast Asian high-speed train in Indonesia, Whoosh, the light rail transit (LRT), and the Panoramic train.
Krisbiyantoro added that the ARCEOs' Conference was held to align perceptions about trains a symbol that unites eight countries for mutual development.
As a symbol of environmental sustainability and digital innovation, KAI will provide a fleet of electric vehicles for the mobility of ARCEOs' Conference participants. As the host, Krisbiyantoro claimed that KAI had thoroughly prepared the event.
"Including paying courtesy visits to all participating countries as part of the preparation," the KAI official said.
