TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Catholics in Jakarta are obligated to have wristband tickets if they want to attend Pope Francis' High Mass at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Anthonius Gregory A., Deputy Media Coordinator of the Committee for the Visit of Pope Francis, said that people who do not have wristband tickets will not be allowed to enter the GBK stadium area.
“This is done to maintain the security and order of the event that will take place,” Anthonius said through a written statement, Sunday, August 31, 2024.
Anthonius appealed to people to attend by preparing the complete requirements so that they could attend the Holy Mass comfortably and safely. Meanwhile, for people who already have wristband tickets, they are urged to leave for the GBK Stadium by considering travel time.
Anthonius revealed that the gate opened at 12:00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time) and will be closed at 15:30 WIB. People can enter through North Plaza, East Plaza, Southeast Plaza to go to the GBK Main Stadium. Meanwhile, to go to the Madya Stadium, you can enter using Gate H (yellow door).
“For people who come by using private vehicles, parking is not prepared in the GBK area (it is recommended to use public transportation),” he said.
Catholics who do not have wristband tickets can still follow the celebration of Holy Mass live streaming on the social media channel of the KWI Social Commission and a number of national television social media channels. They can also watch it through television broadcasts that will be broadcast on several national televisions.
In addition to television, the broadcast of the Holy Mass will also be carried out through the Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) network. The Supreme Leader of the World Catholic Church and Head of State of the Vatican, Pope Francis, will make an apostolic journey to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and Singapore from September 2 to 13, 2024.
Indonesia will be the first country in Pope Francis' series of visits to the Asia Pacific region, from September 3 to 6, 2024. Next, the Pope will visit Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and Vanimo from September 6 to 9, 2024. Then Dili, Timor Leste, from September 9 to 11, 2024 and Singapore from September 11 to 13, 2024.
During his four-day visit to Indonesia, Pope Francis will be welcomed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo in a welcome ceremony at the Merdeka Palace and continue meetings with government circles, civil society, and the diplomatic corps in the State Palace hall.
