Food Outlet at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Terminal 3 Caught on Fire, Video Goes Viral

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - A video depicting a fire at a food outlet in Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport has gone viral on social media. The 37-second video shows a number of officers struggling to extinguish the growing fire. Black smoke billowed and filled the terminal area.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport Senior Manager Branch Communication & Legal M. Holik Muardi said the fire occurred on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at around 04:24 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
“The fire occurred on one part of the roof of the food and beverage tenant in the departure area of Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” said Holik.
According to Holik, the fire first appeared from the roof of the food outlet. Furthermore, the fire can be extinguished by the Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel around 04:30 WIB.
“The fire was extinguished quickly in accordance with procedures and assisted by facilities including fire extinguishers and hydrants so that it did not spread to other locations,” he said.

Currently, Holik added, ARFF personnel are taking normalization steps at the fire location, including removing the smoke inside the terminal using vacuum smoke and exhaust fans.
