Bali Immigration to Open Special Check Lane for IAF Delegates

TEMPO.CO, Badung, Bali - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung, Bali, will open a special immigration check lane for foreign delegates attending the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua on September 1-3, 2024.

"We have coordinated with airport authorities regarding the preparation of the agenda," Head of Bali's Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Suhendra, stated on Monday, August 12, 2024.

He remarked that the special lane is expected to help smooth immigration checks for delegates of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum.

Moreover, his side is finalizing the installation of additional automatic immigration check facilities, or autogates, at the international arrival and departure terminals of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Suhendra explained that currently, 60 autogates at the international arrival terminal are already operating, while 24 autogate facilities are being installed at the international departure terminal, with the target of being completed by August-end of 2024.

The plan is to add six autogates to the international departure terminal in September 2024, bringing the total number of installed units to 90.

Suhendra stated that the autogate facility could shorten immigration inspection to 20-30 seconds per person as an effort to cut time and facilitate the mobility of international travelers.

Currently, autogates can be used for passengers with all types of Indonesian passports and serve foreign nationals with electronic passports holding electronic visit visas on arrival (E-VoA) and electronic visas (E-Visa).

The autogate facility is also available for foreign nationals with a Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS), Permanent Stay Permit Card (KITAP), and countries subject to visa-free visits (BVK) who have registered on the evisa.imigrasi.go.id page.

Indonesia will host the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum and Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Summit (IAF and HLF-MSP) in Nusa Dua, Badung District, Bali.

Based on information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum, themed "Bandung Spirit for the 2063 African Agenda,'' focuses on issues related to economic transformation, energy and mining, food, health security, and development cooperation.

The 2nd IAF will invite African leaders and hundreds of participants from various circles to meet with heads of state, hold panel discussions, conduct exhibitions, carry out business matching, and participate in other activities.

The first Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum will also be held as part of the 2nd IAF series. Moreover, the HLF-MSP is planned to include agenda items such as high-level sessions and cultural performances.

Representatives of the government, the business world, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, and academics will attend the forum.
