TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The results of an analysis by the Institute for Economic and Financial Development (Indef) show that about 64 percent of netizens are skeptical about the ability of the Import Task Force to handle illegal import cases. This analysis was conducted via X, with the data taken based on the result of 2,136 conversations or comments between July 25 and August 6, 2024.

A total of 64.09 percent of X users expressed their skepticism.

"Most social media users are still skeptical that this illegal import task force would be effective in dealing with illegal imports," said Eko Listiyanto, Indef's big data development director, in a discussion via Zoom on Thursday, August 8.

The skepticism, he said, stems from the previous formation of task forces that the public considered sub-optimal in carrying out their duties.

"Perhaps we have too many task forces. For every problem, a new task force is formed. And it seems that these task forces are not effective enough," he said.

Regarding the results of the survey on X-users, Eko said that members of the task force should not be discouraged. The analysis, he said, can be used as a reference to do better and prove the assumption wrong.

"What we want to do is motivate them. Hopefully, the Illegal Import Task Force can turn things around, meaning they can perform optimally so that netizens can appreciate it later," he added.
