TEMPO.CO, JakartaWaterfalls are always a popular tourist destination. Waterfalls vary in height and size, but some waterfalls around the world surpass others in terms of height, with the tallest standing at almost 1 kilometer. Quoted from the World Atlas, here are the 5 tallest waterfalls in the world that you can visit.

The Tallest Waterfalls in the World

1. Angel Falls

Angel Falls, located in Canaima National Park in Venezuela, is the highest waterfall in the world. Angel Falls is 3,212 feet or 979 meters tall and has a water volume of up to 4 cubic meters. The falls lead to the Carrao River. During the warmest months of the year, Angel Falls water evaporates before it touches the ground.

2. Tugela Falls

Tugela Falls is the second-tallest waterfall in the world with a height of 3,110 feet or 948 meters formed by the water of the Tugela River.

Tugela Falls is located in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, where its water flows through the Royal Natal National Park. The area where Tugela Falls is located is also part of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park which is a World Heritage Site.

3. Tres Hermanas Falls

Located in Otishi National Park, Junin Region, Peru, South America, Tres Hermanas Falls has a height of 2,998 feet or around 914 meters. Tres Hermanas is less well known and rarely visited like other waterfalls because of the difficult terrain and access. Tres Hermanas Falls originates from the Cutivireni River which falls in three stunning sections.

4. Olo'upena Falls

Olo'upena Falls stands tall at 2,952 feet or around 900 meters. The fourth-highest waterfall in the world is almost impossible to access and visit because it is located on the volcanic island of Molokai. Olo'upena Falls plunges directly into the Pacific Ocean and can only be seen from the air or sea.

5. Yumbilla Falls

Yumbilla Falls is also located in Peru, South America. Fund in the Amazonas region of Peru, this waterfall is 2,940 feet or 896 meters tall. Yumbilla Falls is surrounded by the Amazon Rainforest but still in the Andes mountains and has four to five tiers.
