TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Whoosh High-Speed Train ridership is booming during Indonesia's school holiday season from June 17 to July 7, 2024. Some 350,000 tickets were sold.
GM Corporate Secretary of Whoosh operator PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), Eva Chariunisa, said the number or daily passengers also increased during the school holiday, from previously 15,000 to 18,000 passengers per day.
"Many passengers travel with children to spend the school holiday in Jakarta and Bandung," she said in a written statement on Saturday, June 29.
KCIC urged parents to closely supervise their children at stations and on trains due to the higher number of young passengers. “Please pay attention to safety rules at the stations and on the train," Eva said.
KCIC also offers assistance for parents sending children alone. Passengers can contact station officers for help, and their children will be accompanied throughout the journey.
"We have provided various facilities and services at Whoosh trains and stations. KCIC hopes that this holiday moment with Whoosh will be a pleasant experience for parents and children," Eva said.
Since its official commercial operation on October 17, 2023, Whoosh has served over 3.5 million passengers. The average daily passengers also grow steadily reaching 17,200 passengers in June, a 3 percent increase from May and a 26 percent increase from April. Whoosh currently offers 48 trips daily to meet passenger demand.
