TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - MRT Jakarta operations were temporarily halted following the incident of falling rebar steel on the MRT tracks between ASEAN and Blok M stations. The steel was from a construction project at the Attorney General’s Office Building. Due to this incident, Transjakarta increased bus operations for Corridor 1 of Blok M bound for Kota.
The additional bus operations were announced via the official Transjakarta Instagram account, @pt_transjakarta. "Considering the MRT service disruptions due to construction-related incident, Transjakarta has added buses to Corridor 1," wrote the account on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Transjakarta stated that nine buses would be added to the Blok M-Kota route, totaling 101 buses to operate. The bus operations would focus on the Blok M segment heading towards Monas.
Transjakarta had also added bus operations on intersecting routes with the MRT, including the Blok M stop to Pondok Labu and the AGO stop to Ciputat. Five buses in total are added to these routes.
Transjakarta also directed passengers to take the Corridor 13 bus bound for Velbak as an alternative to the Lebak Bulus route. Passengers can also use Corridor 8 buses from Kebayoran to Lebak Bulus.
The Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta, Ahmad Pratomo, announced that MRT Jakarta has resumed operations as normal on Friday morning. He also apologized for the falling construction rebar incident. He confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries due to the incident.
"Today, MRT Jakarta resumes operation as normal," he said in a written statement.
