BMKG: Sunny Day in Jakarta Amid Transition Period to Dry Season

29 May 2024 07:57 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast sunny weather in Jakarta today, Wednesday, May 29, 2024. With no chance of rain, the air temperature in this region is expected to range at around 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

According to weather forecast data on the official BMKG website, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Seribu Islands will likely be partly cloudy this morning. On the other hand, the weather in West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta is sunny with minimal clouds.

The weather will be partly cloudy in all of Jakarta in the afternoon, which will last throughout the evening. The air humidity level in Jakarta today ranges from 65 to 95 percent.

BMKG Deputy Meteorologist, Guswanto, said the transition from the rainy to the dry season will occur from May 29 to June 3, 2024. However, the BMKG meteorological team still detects the presence of equatorial Rossby waves which trigger rain during the transition period.

"Rain potentially still falls in North Maluku, Maluku, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, parts of Papua, and parts of Sumatra," he said, last Tuesday.

At the end of the rainy season, he advised people to store water optimally because rainfall will continue to decrease to 50 millimeters per month during the dry season. This condition will last from June to September.
