TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Kadin) is upbeat that Jakarta would keep getting better economically despite its status which has no longer been Indonesia's capital city.

"We are very optimistic that Jakarta will keep developing despite it not being the national capital city anymore. Of course, its regional original revenue (PAD) will rocket with good governance, transparency, and with no corruption," Head of Jakarta Kadin Diana Dewi told ANTARA here on Saturday.

According to Dewi, Jakarta's biggest challenge after relinquishing its status as capital city is the readiness of human resources.

She underscored the importance of quality and professional human resources to support Jakarta's vision to become a global city.

"A global city must be filled with people who have more skills, professionalism, and strong mental outlook," she remarked.

As an organization of the business world, especially in Jakarta, Kadin also supports the preparation of quality human resources in the city.

Dewi said that her side continues to hold training and mentoring on business development as well as certification to support the business sector, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"The training for quality human resources continues to be carried out. We also provide a space for business development abroad and overseas," she stated.

Earlier, Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono affirmed that Jakarta will focus on increasing quality, productive, and prosperous human resources to realize a resilient and stable city.

"In realizing equal development and green infrastructure in Jakarta, we need quality, productive, and prosperous human resources," he stressed.

With superior human resources and a strong economy, Jakarta is expected to be able to compete with other global cities by 2045.

Earlier, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Jakarta announced that Jakarta's economy grew by 4.96 percent cumulatively throughout 2023.
