TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming said he would meet with a number of political figures. The plan is to meet with them after the KPU makes a declaration on the elected president and vice president on Wednesday, April 24
"After the KPU event tomorrow, we plan to meet with political figures we haven't had time to meet with before," Gobran told media reporters at the Solo City Hall in Central Java on Tuesday.
The meeting with these political figures, he said, is for the purpose of connection and bonding, known as 'silaturahmi'.
Gibran said he would attend the KPU declaration with President-elect Prabowo. "After that, we will meet people we have not had the opportunity to meet before. The purpose is for 'silaturahmi'. Our rivals, candidates 01 and 03, have also accepted the [Constitutional Court] decision. They have also sent their congratulations," he said.
In its decision hearing on Monday, April 22, the Constitutional Court (MK) rejected all the claims of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md in the dispute over the KPU's vote count results for the 2024 presidential election. It was not a unanimous decision, with three MK judges Saldi Isra, Arief Hidayat and Enny Nurbaningsih dissenting.
Gibran also expressed hope that all parties from the three camps could unite after the Constitutional Court's decision. However, he said, the decision to join the opposition or the new government was up to each party's leader.
"What we want is for everyone to unite. But that is in the hands of the party leaders - not me. All I want is a good relationship. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they will be in the cabinet," he said.
He said that he believes everyone can join the government and contribute in building the nation, including opposition parties.
