TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Russia, held a cultural event called "Indonesian Night: Happy Breaking the Fast" in their annual event "Tenda Ramadhan 2024" or the "2024 Ramadan Tent" which was held by the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow together with the Moscow City Muslim Spiritual Agency (BSMM), in the courtyard of the Moscow Memorial Mosque, on Thursday, March 28, 2024, according to a press release received by Tempo on Tuesday, April 02, 2024.

A fourth year Indonesian student majoring in aircraft engineering at Moscow Aviation Institute, Muhammad Reza Syah Pahlevi, did the evening call to prayer in a Javanese style, marking the iftar for hundreds of visitors to the cultural event.

The "2024 Ramadan Tent" event was opened by the Chairman of BSMM, Mufti Ildar-hazrat Alyautdinov, who appreciated the participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow in holding this event. He also hoped that Indonesia will continue to participate in the following years, in order to further strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the people of the two countries.

The Imam of the Moscow Memorial Mosque, Damirzhan Zainutdinov, also delivered a sermon about the benefits of fasting for health.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, who also serves to the Republic of Belarus as well, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, in his speech expressed his condolences regarding the terrorist act at Crocus City Hall Moscow, on March 22, 2024 and briefly explained the meaning of the theme of the Ramadan Tent event held by Indonesia.

The annual event "Tenda Ramadhan" has been held by BSMM since 2006 and is the only iftar activity in Russia which invites participation in arts and culture performances by foreign diplomatic representatives or community organizations, while in many mosques or other cultural centers in Russia, activities in the month of Ramadan are iftar only, which is preceded by a tausyiah (sermon) as is generally the case in Indonesia.

At this year's Ramadan Tent, the event was attended by representatives of the embassies of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kyrgystan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Iran, Afghanistan, various federal subjects and mass organizations in Russia.
