Prabowo, Gibran Attend Iftar with Campaign Team in Ritz-Carlton

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President-elect Prabowo Subianto attended an Iftar or breaking of fast soiree with his campaign team (TKN) at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta on Monday, March 25. His running mate and vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka was also present.
Arriving at 5:15 pm, the Defense Minister wore a black Songkok cap with a white long-sleeved shirt. Gibran, the mayor of Solo, arrived minutes before the iftar, wearing a dark blue long-sleeved batik. Both Prabowo and Gibran did not say much upon their arrival, only greeting the TKN officials present.
The event was also attended by high-ranking political party members of the Coalition for a Progressive Indonesia, or KIM. Among them were Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan, and Golkar leaders Wiranto and Aburizal Bakrie.
Several government officials were also seen at the event, including Communications and Information Minister Budi Arie Setiadi, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Efendy, and Deputy Manpower Minister Afriansyah Noor.
The General Elections Commission or KPU declared Prabowo-Gibran the winner of the 2024 presidential election on Wednesday, March 20. They won in 36 out of a total of 38 provinces, garnering more than 96.21 million votes or 58.59 percent of the electorate.
At just 36 years old, Gibran, the son of the current president, will be Indonesia's youngest vice president.
After the KPU announcement, Prabowo had a one-on-one meeting with Gibran on Friday, March 21. Among other things, they discussed the formation of the cabinet.
