TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Amin landed at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten Province, on Saturday afternoon, after wrapping up his agendas during a visit to New Zealand.

Amin and his entourage took a nine-hour flight from the Auckland International Airport before arriving in the motherland at 2:45 p.m. local time.

Earlier, several officials from Indonesia and New Zealand had sent off the vice president at the Auckland International Airport, including Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand Fienthe Maritje Suebu and Senior Policy Officer at the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry of New Zealand Rebecca Wood.

VP Amin embarked on a working visit to New Zealand from February 25 to March 2 in order to conduct his diplomatic mission of promoting halal products to the international community.

In New Zealand, the vice president got the opportunity to meet with several high-ranking officials of the Pacific country, including Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters, and Minister of Biosecurity and Food Safety Andre Hoggard.

During his meeting with PM Luxon in Wellington on Tuesday (February 27), VP Amin successfully engaged New Zealand to further step up its trade cooperation with Indonesia.

"We have agreed to bolster our bilateral partnership, friendship, as well as cooperation, especially in trade activities," Amin stated.

He suggested that Indonesia and New Zealand pay close attention to efforts aimed at intensifying transactions of spices and halal meat between the two countries.

Amin also emphasized the need for Indonesia and New Zealand to exchange experiences in an effort to further strengthen their cooperation in the social and cultural fields.

In a meeting with Deputy PM Peters on the following day, VP Amin explored workable ways to open new opportunities to solidify ties between Indonesia and New Zealand.

To that end, Amin pushed for the continuation of a comprehensive partnership scheme fostered between the two countries by renewing the Plan of Action of the Indonesia-New Zealand Comprehensive Partnership for the 2020-2024 period.

On Friday (March 1), the vice president held a meeting with Minister Hoggard and 30 halal product business actors from New Zealand during which he encouraged cooperation in the development and mutual recognition of halal products between Indonesia and New Zealand.
