Inacraft 2024; Cooperatives Minister Says Indonesia Has 1.25% of Market Shares in Global Craft Industry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki today during the Inacraft 2024 opening claimed that Indonesia has around 1.25 percent of the market share in the global craft industry. The minister also projected that it would continue to increase.
"[This] is due to the abundant human resources Indonesia possesses and the skills of craftsmen in turning [materials] into decorative products and extraordinary crafts," said Teten at the Inacraft 2024 opening ceremony on Wednesday. According to him, this could be an opportunity for Indonesian crafts makers to dominate the domestic market.
Furthermore, Teten appreciated Inacraft's innovation in developing eri silk thread, the only one manufactured in Indonesia with a composition of 70 percent lyocell and 30 percent eri silk fiber.
"On behalf of the government, I congratulate Inacraft 2024, which has adapted to the digital era, through the concept of smart, simple, mobile, accessible, real-time, and trustworthy," he said.
Apart from that, this event is also equipped with cashless payments, social media orientation, and a digital insight program.
"I hope that with Inacraft's strong branding in ASEAN, Indonesia can become the region’s leading handicraft exporter in 2024," he said. Teten also hopes that Indonesia can successfully enter the list of the 10 largest handicraft-exporting countries in the world.
The Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (Inacraft 2024) is the largest and most comprehensive handicraft exhibition in Southeast Asia. This exhibition is held again for the 24th time at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Central Jakarta, from Feb. 28 to March 3, 2024.
