TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi hoped that Indonesia’s economy would improve post-election along with the increase in investment and capital. The statement was relayed during an annual meeting at OJK on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024.
Jokowi also claimed that the election went smoothly, citizens came in droves to cast their votes during the general elections last Wednesday.
“I know that many business actors awaited the election. Just ‘wait and see’ since they were worried about the rising tension ahead of the general elections. We expect that the capital flow and investment post-election will improve,” he said.
The president also said that the global geopolitical situation is yet to be stable, which impacted Indonesia’s economic growth. Some countries are at war, such as Ukraine and Russia, while Gaza is being bombarded by Israel.
However, the success of the Indonesian election is expected to be influential to domestic growth. The financial service industry also has an important role, according to Jokowi.
“The most important thing is that the political situation in our country is stable, which is surely relieving for financial industry actors,” he said. “It will revive the financial industry to be stronger for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.”
