Here are the State Leaders Who Congratulated Prabowo Subianto So Far

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The quick count for the 2024 Indonesian presidential election carried out by a number of survey institutions has ended. As a result, candidate pair 02, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, won the election quick count version by a landslide with a vote of around 57-60 percent. Prabowo has also received congratulations from various state leaders.

Here is the list of of state leaders who have congratulated Prabowo so far: 

1. Prime Minister of Australia

Australian Prime Minister (PM), Anthony Albanese, congratulated Indonesia and Prabowo. Through his official social media account.

"I am honored to be the first foreign leader today to speak with @prabowo, who has a clear advantage in both official and unofficial matters, regarding my ambitions for the future of Australia-Indonesia relations," Anthony wrote in his upload statement, Thursday, February 15, 2024 .

2. Dutch PM

Dutch PM, Mark Rutte, also congratulated Prabowo Subianto via a post on his X social media. He also hopes to continue developing strong friendship between the two countries.

“I just congratulated @Prabowo Subianto on the projected election results in Indonesia yesterday. "I hope to continue to develop friendship and strong ties between our two countries," said Mark, Thursday, February 15, 2024.

3. PM of the Czech Republic

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, also congratulated Prabowo Subianto on winning the 2024 presidential election. He also expressed his readiness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

"Congratulations to HE @prabowo Subianto who has won the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election. Remembering my visit to your beautiful country less than a year ago, let me wish you a smooth transition as well as express our readiness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries," said Fiala.

4. PM Singapore

The Prime Minister (PM) of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, congratulated presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto after winning in the quick count version in the 2024 Indonesian presidential election. The two also agreed on the importance of identifying new and mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.

"Lee and Prabowo discussed excellent bilateral relations," said Prime Minister's Press Secretary Chang Li Lin on Thursday, February 15, 2024, when responding to media questions.

5. Malaysian PM

Prabowo in his upload on X admitted that he received congratulations from the Malaysian PM, Anwar Ibrahim. Prabowo revealed this on Friday, February 16, 2024. In his upload, he said that he had received several telephone calls offering congratulations, one of which was from Anwar Ibrahim.

6. Sri Lankan PM

The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, also congratulated Prabowo on his quick count election as president. Prabowo revealed this in his upload on X together with the Malaysian PM and several other state leaders.

"This morning we received a telephone call containing congratulations on the results of the ongoing election from several state leaders, (namely) the Australian Prime Minister, PM Anthony Albanese. Prime Minister of Singapore, PM Lee Hsien Loong. "Prime Minister of Malaysia, PM Anwar Ibrahim, and President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe," wrote Prabowo in his upload statement, Friday, February 16, 2024.

7. British PM

The British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, also congratulated Prabowo as uploaded to the X @prabowo account. Rishi sent these remarks via an official letter from Downing Street. Apart from writing congratulations, the contents of the letter also contain a warning that Indonesia-England diplomacy is entering its 75th year.

Rishi will also improve bilateral relations between Indonesia and England. One of the collaborations planned by Rishi is discussing the climate crisis through efforts to transition to alternative energy.

8. Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia

The Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E Lu Kang, congratulated Prabowo directly. On Sunday, February 18, 2024, Lu Kang visited Prabowo's residence in Kertanegara, Jakarta. In the upload on the X Prabowo account, you can see a photo of Lu Kang and Prabowo sitting talking in a room.

9. PM of India

In an upload to the Indian Prime Minister's X account, @narendramodi, he expressed his support for Prabowo's election as Indonesia's presidential candidate. Furthermore, he also conveyed the message that he could not wait to further increase cooperation with Indonesia under Prabowo.

10. US Department of State

Even though the President of the United States, Joe Biden, has not congratulated Prabowo, the Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, Matthew Miller, said so on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in a press release. In his statement, Miller congratulated Indonesia and the elected president. Miller also revealed that the US wants to continue cooperation with Indonesia under the new president.
