1. Indonesia's Retno Marsudi to Deliver Oral Statement on Palestine in ICJ This Friday
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi will speak before the International Court of Justice or ICJ concerning Indonesia’s position over the Palestine issue this Friday.
The public hearing held by the ICJ will respond the questions about the status and legal consequence of Israel’s occupation of Palestine. “The hearing is a follow-up to the UN General Assembly's advisory opinion request,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on X, cited in Jakarta, Sunday.
Indonesia is one of the 53 countries and three international organizations are scheduled to deliver their oral statement before the ICJ from Feb. 19-26, 2024.
2. British PM Rishi Sunak Congratulates Prabowo Subianto on 'Election Success'
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak congratulated presidential candidate number two Prabowo Subianto, delivered by UK Ambassador for Indonesia Dominic Jermey.
In a letter uploaded to the Instagram account of the British Embassy to Indonesia @ukinindonesia, Rishi Sunak addressed the letter directly to “Pak Prabowo” or Mr. Prabowo. Sunak congratulated Prabowo for his success in the quick count of the Indonesian presidential election.
3. Ganjar Pranowo Urges DPR to Intervene on Election Fraud, Sirekap Error Issues
Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo asked Commission II of the House of Representatives or DPR to immediately summon the General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) concerning Sirekap and the alleged fraud in the recent election. “Commission II should immediately address this situation. We’re talking audit here," Ganjar told Tempo on Friday at his residence in Jakarta.
According to Ganjar, the DPR must control the situation concerning the Sirekap application. "I was once the head of Commission II and I feel frustrated now," said Ganjar.
