Jokowi, Prabowo Inaugurate Soedirman National Defense Centre Hospital in Jakarta Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi inaugurated the Panglima Besar Soedirman National Defense Central Hospital (RSPPN) in Bintaro, South Jakarta, on Monday, February 19, 2024. During the inauguration, Jokowi was accompanied by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

The construction of the hospital was initiated by the Ministry of Defense during the Covid-19 pandemic. The extended family of Commander-in-Chief Soedirman was present during the inauguration.

"I honor and appreciate the [development of] Soedirman Hospital and the 25 other hospitals initiated by the Ministry of Defense," said Jokowi in his speech.

The name Soedirman was used as a form of appreciation and respect for the dedication and services of the national hero during his lifetime. 

Before the inauguration, Prabowo accompanied Jokowi to review a number of hospital facilities, including the Radiology room (MRI, DSA, CT Scan, Cath Lab, as well as advanced conventional radiology), the operating room, and the ICU.

Apart from RSPPN Soedirman in Bintaro, Jokowi was also inaugurated in hybrid form 19 hospitals for the Indonesian Army, Indonesian Navy, and Indonesian Air Force. Five hospitals were previously inaugurated by the President and Minister of Defense. The 19 hospitals consisted of 11 Army Hospitals, 3 Navy Hospitals, and 6 Air Force Hospitals across Indonesia.
