TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Some polling stations or TPS in the Maharta Housing Complex, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang were flooded following heavy downpours in the area since the night of February 13. The deluge resulted in the relocation of several TPS and the postponement of the voting process.
The floodwater submerging the houses was as high as an adult's waist. Tempo observed that two TPS, 87 and 78 in the community unit or RW 10 of Maharta Complex could not be opened.
Reza Afrizal, the chairman of the local poll administrator of TPS 87, said the flood began to inundate the area at 5 am. “We have been awake since 4 am,” he told Tempo at the polling station today.
He immediately coordinated with the General Election Commission (KPU), the district supervisory non-commissioned officers (Babinsa), and residents to relocate the election logistics. “We are moving to nearby TPS,” Reza added, stating that at least four TPS in the Maharta complex in South Tangerang were flooded.
