TEMPO.CO, JakartaMember of the General Elections Supervisory Agency or Bawaslu Lolly Suhenty admitted that the ‘Dirty Vote’ film was a form of self-criticism against the agency. The film did highlight the role of Bawaslu during the 2024 general elections.

“The film [Dirty Vote] was criticism for Bawaslu since the agency’s performance was one of the things captured [in the film],” she said on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Jakarta.

The criticism, Lolly said, must be used as a tool for reflection and evaluation by the agency, and “we [Bawaslu] encourage people to watch the film.”

According to Lolly, in the context of Bawaslu’s performance and authority, her agency is always ready to be held responsible, especially in relation to the general elections.

Dirty Vote presented three constitutional law experts to explain and unravel the suspected violations of law and interference potential in the upcoming 2024 general elections. Those experts were Bivitri Susanti, Zainal Arifin Mochtar, and Feri Amsari. The film was released on Feb. 11 and has garnered at least 13 million views on YouTube.

Earlier, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin urged the government to pay close attention to the criticism conveyed in the film. “I hope the willingness to do better is responded to in a good manner,” he said on Monday.
