Indonesian Student Alifia Soeryo Killed By Fallen Tree Branch in Australia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Alifia Soeryo, an Indonesian student in Australia was killed by a fallen tree in Northen Adelaide near War Memorial Drive on February 7, 2024.
“Following up on the report, The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Sydney has coordinated with local police, including with the autopsy process,” said the director of citizen protection Judha Nugraha in a brief text on Monday.
KJRI also facilitated the communication between Alifia’s family with the funeral home. “KJRI will continue to coordinate with local authorities to help the family take care of the body,” Judha added.
Alifia was an Indonesian student studying for a Communication and Media Master's at the University of Adelaide. Reportedly, she was sitting after a jog in a park near War Memorial Drive when a 10-ton branch fell on her.
Australian emergency service officers tried to save her, but the Jakartan student died on site.
