TEMPO.CO, Bali - The festivity of Chinese New Year, or Imlek, with shades of red and gold, fills every corner of The Nusa Dua, Bali. Imlek is not only a commemoration to celebrate success and happiness but is also a moment to gather with family and friends.
To celebrate this moment, Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) presented lion dance or barongsai, dragon, and wushu performances on Friday, Feb. 9, at several locations in The Nusa Dua, namely Tugu Mandala (Dwarapala), Bali Collection Nusa Dua, and Nusa Dua beach area.
The Nusa Dua General Manager, I Made Agus Dwiatmika, said that Nusa Dua offers memorable experiences for tourists and visitors during the 2024 Chinese New Year holidays. "The series of Imlek celebrations become the moment for families to gather and go on holiday enjoying the Chinese New Year atmosphere with various activities at The Nusa Dua area," he said in a press statement.
Lion Dance Performance
Several tenants at The Nusa Dua offer stay promos and special food and beverage menus to celebrate this special moment. This event becomes a magnet for domestic or international tourists visiting Bali.
One of the tenants, a shopping center at The Nusa Dua area dubbed the Bali Collection, will hold “Gong Xi Fa Cai Festival 2024". They will present the lion dance show, lion show, Kecak & fire dance, musical performance, and Bali dance show on Monday, Feb. 11, starting at 6 p.m. Bali time. It is hoped that the enthusiasm of the visitors will further enliven the Chinese New Year atmosphere in the area.
Increased Occupancy
In addition to celebrating Chinese New Year, The Nusa Dua also recorded a positive occupancy achievement. In January 2024, the average occupancy was 72.01 percent from a total of 21 hotels at The Nusa Dua. The number showed a significant increase compared to the previous year at 60.14 percent and even surpassed the pre-pandemic achievement in 2019 at 69.90 percent.
This provides new enthusiasm for The Nusa Dua to continue to achieve higher accomplishments in the next years and shows that The Nusa Dua is still the superior tourist destination in Indonesia. "Hopefully, the Year of the Dragon will bring new enthusiasm for all of us, and hopefully tourism activities in this area will continue to develop rapidly," said Made Agus.
