Bali Governor Inspects World Water Forum Venue at Melasti Beach

TEMPO.CO, Denpasar, Bali - Bali acting governor Sang Made Mahendra Jaya inspected Melasti Beach in Badung, Bali, which has been selected as one of the venues of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) scheduled from May 18–24, 2024.

In his statement received on Wednesday, Jaya said that the beach located in South Kuta is suitable to be one of the main stages for the 10th WWF, which will be attended by delegates from nearly 200 countries.

"We will also carry out the Tumpek Uye Day ceremony, and we want the delegates to witness it directly," he informed.

Jaya visited each iconic point on Melasti Beach, including the Watu Gangga Pavilion, where people carry out self-purification ceremonies. The area is expected to be crowded before Nyepi Day, or the Day of Silence, in Bali.

Watu Gangga, which can break the waves, also serves as a venue for the locals' religious ceremonies.

The Tumpek Uye ceremony, which expresses gratitude to animals for supporting human life, will enliven the opening of the 10th WWF on Melasti Beach on May 18.

There will also be Segara Kerthi — the purification and glorification of water as a source of welfare and happiness in human life.

"We hope that the public can participate and pray so that this WWF event runs smoothly and is beneficial for Bali's nature," he said.

Bali has been selected as the location for the 2024 World Water Forum, which is themed "Water for Shared Prosperity."

Jaya informed that the WWF meeting, which is organized every three years, will be attended by 30 thousand participants from 172 countries.
