TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train ticket prices will become dynamic starting February 3, 2024. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) has set the home ticket price at Rp150,000. With this new scheme, the fare for 'Whoosh' - the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train brand - for premium economy class will be around Rp150,000 to Rp250,000.
KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said that the implementation of this dynamic pricing scheme allows passengers to get Whoosh tickets at a more economical price when traveling at certain times.
"In this new scheme it is possible that in one day there are several different rates for Whoosh trips," said Eva in an official statement quoted on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Eva revealed that several factors influence the determination of dynamic pricing, including peak hours or off peak hours, high season or low season, or weekdays or weekends.
He said, during peak hours or rush hours, the prices charged will increase. On the other hand, during off peak hours or loose hours, the prices offered will be lower. Passengers, said Eva, are given travel options with varying prices according to their needs, preferences and financial capabilities. Eva said that the implementation of dynamic pricing will continue to be monitored and evaluated so that it continues to suit passenger needs and Whoosh operations.
"Dynamic pricing will provide added value for passengers. It is hoped that price flexibility will provide better benefits to the community," he said.
As of January 27, 2024, around 1.4 million passengers have used the Whoosh service to travel between Jakarta and Bandung and vice versa. Average occupancy rates are in the 60 to 80 percent range. The peak daily passenger volume, reaching 21,000 passengers, was recorded in November 2023 and during the Christmas transportation period from December 2023 to January 2024.
"This shows that public interest in the first high-speed train transportation in Southeast Asia is still well maintained," he said.
