Greater Jakarta Police Ready to Assist in Securing Election Logistics Distribution

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Greater Jakarta Police stated that they are ready to secure the distribution of election logistics to villages and polling stations in Jakarta ahead of the 2024 elections.
"The regional police, the sectoral police, and other officials are ready to assist in the logistics distribution to the villages and polling stations," the Greater Jakarta Police's Head of Operations Bureau, Senior Commissioner Tory Kristianto, stated on Saturday.
Kristianto made this statement at the preparation meeting to secure the distribution and setting of the election ballots, representing Chief of the Greater Jakarta Police, Inspector General Karyoto.
He explained that the election logistics storage area will be monitored through CCTV to support surveillance.
"We will coordinate with the Alert Police (Sabhara), the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob), and the Water Police while crossing to the Seribu Islands," he remarked.
In addition, his side will inspect where the logistics are stored to check whether the storage has CCTV facility.
Furthermore, the Greater Jakarta Police will build a main post at the Operations Bureau and a tactical post at vulnerable points.
Kristianto emphasized that his side would always support and help secure the implementation of the 2024 elections.
"We ask the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) Office for data on the number of villages as well as the schedule for ballot and election logistics distribution," he remarked.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta KPU received as many as 33,747,852 ballots and will ensure they are dropped off on the day before the voting day.
The KPU also coordinates with the Jakarta Provincial Health Office to check the health of election officers in the field.
The Jakarta provincial government has appointed 215 thousand Voting Organizing Team (KPPS) officers and built a command center to monitor all polling stations in the Jakarta area.
