BMKG Releases Early Warning for Heavy Rain in 25 Provinces

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The weather forecast today, Monday, Jan. 22 by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG has been released. As many as 25 provinces in Indonesia including Aceh and Papua receive early warning of heavy rain potential with lightning and strong winds.
In Java Island, early warning was announced for every province except Jakarta. Aceh, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua are amongst the regions receiving early warning from BMKG. Only South Sulawesi holds the Alert status for heavy rain potential.
BMKG also revealed the presence of an Orchid Tropical Cyclone on the Indian Ocean southwestern of Bengkulu, moving away from Indonesia. As cited from its website, the agency mentioned that cyclone intensity has moved down to Category 1.
Meanwhile, the seeds of 99S Cyclone were observed in the northern part of Australia heading to the west. The cyclone seeds cause convergence and inducting a low-level jet wind movement, including in the Timor Sea.
90S Cyclone seeds, on the other hand, were observed in the Coral Sea northeast of Australia. It causes a convergence zone including in the Arafuru Sea, inducting a low-level jet wind movement.
Convergence areas are responsible for the formation of rain clouds.
