Vice Presidential Debate: Gibran Rakabuming Raka Pledges to Continue Agrarian Reform

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that he would continue agrarian reform and increase the budget for village funds.
He made the remarks while delivering his opening speech during the second vice presidential debate held by the General Election Commission (KPU) in Jakarta on Sunday.
Gibran stated that the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair would continue the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) program, land redistribution, and the one map policy to tackle land ownership issues and encourage more equitable land use.
He also underlined that village funds have been proven to be able to reduce the number of underdeveloped villages and increase the number of developing and independent villages.
"To this end, the budget for village funds will be increased in accordance with the fiscal power in the country," he remarked.
The debate was part of a series of election debates for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 14, 2024. The themes raised in Sunday's debate are natural resources, food, carbon tax, environment, agrarian issues, and traditional communities.
Previously, the KPU held the first presidential debate on December 12, 2023, the first vice presidential debate on December 22, 2023, and the second presidential debate on January 7, 2024.
Three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are contesting the elections: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
