Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md Propose Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Programs if Elected

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The expert council of the national winning team of Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, Bonnie Setiawan, claimed that the agrarian reform program brought up by the running pair will be more comprehensive than ones by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

"Agrarian reform by Ganjar-Mahfud involved land reform or redistribution of land based on the agrarian reform location priorities and the land as objects of agrarian reform," he told Tempo on Thursday.

The distribution of certificates as conducted by Jokowi, however, must be conducted after redistribution. 

The pairing offered a "Thorough Agrarian Reform" in their vision and mission document, with several programs such as efficient and just land management including mafia-free land redistribution and legalization to ensure a transparent, quick, accurate, and cheap land administration and documentation.

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the Consortium of Agrarian Reform Dewi Kartika slammed Ganjar-Mahfud's agrarian reform agenda. The reason was land legalization, which she claimed was a hindrance to agrarian reform.

"Agrarian conflict and correcting the gap is left untouched. [Ganjar-Mahfud] is instead distributing land certificates which have no conflict," Dewi said. Additionally, distributing land certificates ought to be the duty and function of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning.

According to Dewi, Ganjar-Mahfud's vision and mission are already quite progressive with the inclusion of land mafia and data accuracy and transparency. Both of those things, she said, could support agrarian reform.

Dewi recommended to the presidential pairing number 3 to revise their vision and mission for the upcoming general elections and take off the legalization agenda for non-conflict and non-interest assets. This agenda, she went on, would distort agrarian reform.

"Let's focus on the issue of inequality, conflict resolution, food sovereignty, and ecological balance," Dewi said.
