TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The deputy of funding and investment of the IKN Authority Agung Wicaksono said that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's visit to Brunei Darussalam resulted in the state's interest in investing in the new Nusantara capital city or IKN. Brunei Darussalam was part of Jokowi's recent ASEAN tour.
According to Agung, Jokowi met with investors joined in an international consortium led by the sister of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Amal Rakiah. Saudi Arabia is also part of the consortium.
"They have expressed their interest to invest in residential buildings or apartments [in IKN]," he said in a press conference held virtually on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The consortium has delivered its Letter of Intent to invest in the project.
The consortium, he said, is experienced in developing Egypt's new capital city. Meanwhile, the investment value still has to be calculated. "At least Rp4.5-7 trillion for the land, depending on the feasibility study," Agung said.
The investment interest, Agung claimed, was expressed between Jokowi's attendance in Brunei's royal wedding between Prince Abdul Mateen and Anisha Rosnah.
"Despite the nature of the visit, Jokowi utilized his time to net investors," Agung concluded.
